World Bank today has approved a loan for 25 million US Dollars for flood affected area of Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. This loan is mostly focused on Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project for reconstruction of flood-affected public infrastructure.
The loan, which has been funded by World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA), has the maturity age of 25 years. This will focus on recovery of affected areas and will also help to provide machinery to help government to work in such conditions again. It will help rebuilding bridges, roads, hospitals, schools and public offices again.
Due to unprecedented rains late last year, vast area of J&K was affected and people lost their livelihood on both sides of the border.
Recovery project will be target 20 districts, which are Anantnag, Baramula, Budgam, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Srinagar, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch, Rajauri and Udhampur.
